PSG close in on Thiago Silva
Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has confirmed the French club is set to discuss terms with AC Milan defender Thiago Silva.
Brazil international Silva is regarded as one of the world's elite defenders and has caught the eye of Carlo Ancelotti's PSG, who are eager establish themselves as a superpower of the game following the takeover of the club by Qatari investors in 2011.
"Milan have given Thiago Silva permission to speak to PSG, even though the deal is not done yet," a source close to the Italian club told Goal.com
Although Thiago Silva is reportedly in Paris to discuss terms, the clubs are still some distance apart on a potential transfer fee.
PSG are willing to offer as much as 40 million euros, but the Serie A giants have set an asking price of 50 million euros for the 27-year-old defender.
Speaking to RMC
, the Brazilian's agent, Paulo Tonietto, confirmed a switch may be feasible.
"I know PSG are very interested in Thiago Silva, but at the moment the player is still Rossoneri, however, anything is possible," he said.
Manchester City registered an interest in Silva in May, tabling a part-exchange deal involving Carlos Tevez, but Milan rejected the offer, while Barcelona appear unwilling to match the asking price.
